‘From Past to Future’ takes part in the conference “Retrovisor. The Consumption of the Past”
Josué N. Lorente, the Atapuerca Foundation’s Ambassador for Culture and Science for the European project ‘From Past to Future’, presented the paper “Under the Same Algorithm: The Consumption of the Past Between Science and Pseudoscience” at the conference “Retrovisor. The Consumption of the Past’, held at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
The paper addressed the coexistence of archaeology and pseudo-archaeology, primarily on digital platforms, as well as the challenges facing science communication in recent years. It analysed how information becomes intermingled and reaches consumers, making it difficult to distinguish its veracity.
Furthermore, Josué presented the work carried out by the ‘From Past To Future’ project at the Atapuerca Foundation (co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme), whose members have trained a group of cultural ambassadors with the aim of establishing a presence on social media to connect academic research on the site with digital users, ensuring high-quality communication that promotes access to culture and science.
