On 8 July, the European ‘From Past to Future’ project brought together three Spanish science communicators and ambassadors for the project to showcase the results of an initiative that has succeeded in breaking down barriers and reinventing the way we understand our heritage through digital tools and young people who have transformed the narrative of heritage.
The event was attended by Candela Antón, Lidia Merenciano and Luis Quevedo, alongside three ambassadors for culture and science at the Atapuerca Foundation as part of the “From Past to Future” project: Alba, Aitana and Cintia.
The event began with a tour of the archaeological sites in the Sierra de Atapuerca led by David Canales, an archaeological guide at the Atapuerca Foundation, and continued with a reception at the Atapuerca Foundation hosted by its director, Eva Manrique. During the tour, the ambassadors posted content showcasing the archaeological heritage of the sites in the Sierra de Atapuerca.
Finally, in the afternoon, the ‘Enredados en Atapuerca II’ event took place, returning for a new edition in which the science communicators discussed scientific rigour, the use of social media and the role of science in society, as part of the ‘From Past to Future’ project.
This event, attended in person by five ambassadors, was streamed live so that the rest of the science and culture ambassadors involved in this project could watch it.
